Of all the treasures Paris is famous for, the book sellers along the Seine are among my favorite! Since the 16th century, the Bouquinistes have been selling their literary treasures from the locked green boxes along both the left and right bank of the river. In 1991 they were declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can learn more about this fascinating French cultural heritage at https://www.myfrenchlife.org
And now for my sign!! This one was created to look quite old...chippy cracked slate gray background with white showing through underneath. Lettering is done in cream, lightly shadowed in charcoal. It is adorned with ornate molding at the ends ~ three keyhole plates (referencing the locked bookstallers boxes) add to the charm.
Measures 37.5 inches by 7.5 inches, handrubbed with wax ~ artist signed and ready to hang!
